Concert Announcement! Cantala and JOY!
Mark your calendars: Cantala is presenting its spring concert on Saturday May 2nd, at 2pm. Titled JOY, it is a programm of peices that exude just that -JOY. There are many very entertaining choral pieces that include clapping, choreography, solos, small ensembles and wine glasses. Come and find out what the joy is all about.

Alice -Sarah Quartel. A quirky piece all about the adventures of Alice ….in a Wonderland.
The Lost Words: A Spell Book: We continue our dramatic growth with those lost words in the dictionary. This time we will add
Acorn-Alex Eddington: A local TDSB Music teacher!

Jerusalem Luminosa-Abbie Betinis: A rhythmic work challenging the singers in a demanding fast paced, sustained tessiatura.

Yeux D’Enfant-Marie-Claire Saindon. This concert will be highlighting the works of thie Francophone composer who is rich in lush harmonies and catchy tunes.
The Girl With the Numbers-Marie-Claire Saindon. Rhythmic and catchy- so is the text. It is all about Katherine Johnson who blazed new trails as a black women in a white man’s world. Resilience and perseverence abound.
Warrior-Kim Baryluk. This piece has a new arrangment with hand drum and chant. It is so powerful. It celebrates the resilience of the human spirit.
Turtutte Acadian Montrealaise-Marie-Claire Saindon. Ever started a band in your kitchen? This tune likely was composed in a kitchen near you and celebrates Acadian heritage.
Stars: Eriks Esenvalds. This piece will be performed with wine glasses—-huh?
Las Amarillyas: Stephen Hatfield. This barn burner will sing us out of our 17th season.
