After hearing the Cantala Women’s Choir sing their hearts out last saturday night to a crowd of very appreciative concert goers, we are looking forward to sharing with you our highlights.

Cantala was honored to work with Erica Goodman, Harp, again this year on John Rutter’s Dancing day cycle. We enjoyed working together so much last year recording Britten’s Ceremony of Carols that we decided to do it again this year withe the Rutter. It was also a pleasure to work with Ms. Goodman on Kelly-Marie Murphy’s new choral work Hodie Christus Natus Est. It was a challenging and exciting work to learn and perform-Brava to everyone!

It was also a thrill to do the world premiere performance of Beverly Lewis’ Coventry Carol. It has a haunting quality that is heightened with the accompanying Oboe. Watch for an audio recording of this performance here soon.

I’m quite sure many people left the concert whistling Tomorrow Shall be my dancing day. It is such a memorable melody.

Look out for Cantala in the New year as we get ready to attend a choral intensive weekend at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, collaborate with Toronto’s Theatre scene, present a solo concert at Roy Thompson Hall and present a Latin themed spring concert in May. It will be a jammed packed term with Cantala-the most exciting yet!
